RCMP arrest 32-year-old man for physically assaulting a woman outside Spruceland Mall

The Prince George RCMP received calls from Spruceland Mall at around 1:00pm on Wednesday (October 5), reporting that an assault was taking place.

When they arrived soon after, the victim and witnesses both told RCMP that a man had knocked a woman to the ground and started hitting her in the face.

“Without a doubt this incident would have continued if it were not for the actions of multiple people who intervened by shouting at the suspect to stop” said Cpl. Jenn Cooper.

“Additionally, investigators were able to locate the suspect within 30 minutes of the assault from the accurate information provided to them from witnesses at the scene. We thank all those who stayed behind to speak with police.”

The woman was assessed by BC Ambulance, she had scrapes along her arms and legs, and was in pain where she was hit.

The unnamed 32-year-old man was arrested at his home soon after the assault.

He has been released on an undertaking with a future court date, and was previously unknown to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
