Could Prince George see a temperature record fall in mid-October?

The prolonged summer-like conditions in Prince George will continue in earnest heading into the weekend.

According to Environment Canada, daytime highs will be six to eight degrees above normal for this time of year.

Meteorologist, Derek Lee told MyPGNow.com that the balmy mid-October weather could result in some new temperature records.

“Temperatures will be close to the 20-degree mark for Saturday and Sunday and it might be surprising to hear that if we do get around 19 degrees on Saturday that might also break a record in terms of how warm we are going to get for this weekend.”

“We are looking at temperatures to be six to eight degrees above seasonal for the daytime maximum, which is quite warm for this time of year and even our nighttime temperatures are three to four degrees warmer than what they usually are for this time of year.”

Lee reminds residents to enjoy the sunnier conditions while it lasts.

“This warm stretch of weather is likely going to last for another seven days or so. The stormy pattern is unlikely to come back until a mid-to-late week next week so definitely some rain maybe in store as we look further into the future.”

“That wet pattern should be lingering on into the future. Certainly, enjoy the weather that’s here now.”
