Municipal election results pouring in around Northern BC and the Cariboo

There’s a lot of new Mayors around Northern BC and the Cariboo.

The following results are preliminary results, official results will be posted at various times, depending on the municipality.

Quesnel

Ron Paull will take his seat as Mayor with 1,179 votes.

He beat out incumbent Bob Simpson, who received 969.

Williams Lake

Williams Lake also has a new Mayor in Surinderpal Rathor with 1,091 votes.

Incumbent Walt Cobb finished third in the voting with 773.

Vanderhoof

Kevin Moutray will take over the head of the table with 784 votes.

He takes over for Gerry Thiessen, who did not seek re-election.

Fort St. James

Martin Elphee defeated incumbent Bob Motion, 183 votes to 117.

Burns Lake

Henry Wiebe will take the Mayor’s position with 201 votes.

Wiebe previously served as a Councillor in Burns Lake.

Smithers

The incumbent, Gladys Atrill will continue to serve as Mayor following a tight race.

She received 983 votes, defeating Murray Hawse with 772.

Mackenzie

Joan Atkinson will also keep her seat with 483 votes in Mackenzie.

She defeated Mitch Mortensen with 69.5% percent of the vote.

McBride

Incumbent candidate Gene Runtz will keep his seat after a tight race with Lucille Green.

Runtz won 127 votes, againts Green’s 111.

Maureen Pinkney (100 Mile House), Ed Coleman (Wells), Owen Torgerson (Valemount), and Sarrah Storey (Fraser Lake) were all acclaimed as Mayor’s of their respective municipalities as they ran unopposed.
