Alex Ovechkin scored twice and added two assists for the Capitals, who overcame a 4-2 third-period deficit.

The (0-3) Canucks have blown multi-goal leads in each of their games.

Vancouver will continue on the road playing at (0-3) Columbus tonight (Tuesday 4:00 PT).

BCHL: 

The Prince George Spruce Kings have acquired 18-year-old forward Scott Cousins from the Kelowna Rockets.

Cousins, who is from P.G., and a former player with the Cariboo Cougars, notched 12 points (eight goals) in 52 games over three seasons with the Rockets.

The (6-2) Spruce Kings play their next two games at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack; Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 against (4-2-1) Coquitlam and Thursday afternoon at 4:00 against (6-0) Surrey.

WHL:

The (3-5) Prince George Cougars, who have lost their last three, play their next two on the road: Friday in Langley against the (1-3-1-2) Vancouver Giants and Saturday in Kamloops against the (4-1-0-1) Blazers.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18)

The (4-2) U18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (4-3) Vancouver North West Hawks Saturday night at 6:15 in West Vancouver and Sunday at noon in North Vancouver.

The U18 Cougars are in third place out of nine teams and riding a 4-game winning streak.

The (1-6-1) U18 female Northern Capitals host the (0-8-1) Greater Vancouver Comets  Friday (6:45 p.m. Kin 1), Saturday (5:45 p.m. Kin 2), and Sunday, (8:30 a.m. Kin 2).

The Caps are 4th and the Comets last in the 5-team division.

MLB: 

American League

Cleveland Guardians  at  New York Yankees   (PPD Rain)

The two teams will play this afternoon (at 1:07 PT) in the 5th and deciding game with the winner advancing to the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros.

National League

The best of 7 National League Championship Series will open tonight (at 5:03) in San Diego featuring the Padres against the Philadelphia Phillies.

NFL: (Final game in Week 6)

LA Chargers  19  Denver Broncos  16  (OT)

The Chargers are 4-2 and tied with Kansas City for the top spot in the AFC West while the Broncos fell to 2-4.

Buffalo has the best record in the AFC at 5-1 while Philadelphia has the best record in the entire NFL at 6-0.

CFL: (Week 20)

The (11-5) B.C. Lions visit the Edmonton Elks Friday night at 6:30 (PT) before they play at Winnipeg on October 28th to close out their regular season.

Edmonton has lost a league-record 16 straight home games.

The Lions are in second place in the West Division, two points ahead of the (10-6) Calgary Stampeders.

The Stampeders’ final two games are a home-and-home with (6-10) Saskatchewan starting on Saturday (4 PM PT) in Regina and concluding on October 29th in Calgary.

Week 20 of the CFL season starts Friday (4 PM) with (4-12) Ottawa at (6-10) Hamilton.

NBA:

The NBA regular season tips off with a pair of games tonight: Philadelphia at Boston (4:30 PT) followed by the LA Lakers at Golden State (7:00).

The Toronto Raptors open at home Wednesday night (4:30) against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Canada West Soccer:

The UNBC Timberwolves conclude their regular season in Canada West men’s soccer on the road at Fraser Valley Friday night at 7:00 and Sunday at noon in Abbotsford.

The UNBC men have clinched a playoff spot as they are in third place out of seven teams in the Pacific Division with a record of 7-4-3.

Michael Henman of the Timberwolves has a league-leading 18 goals.
