Local pharmacists are warning of a very prevalent influenza season and urge residents to get their flu shot this fall.
Steve Loang is a pharmacist at the Shoppers Drug Mart in College Heights.
He believes everyone can benefit from getting the vaccine.
“I think the entire population can benefit from it. Children ranging from six to fifty-nine months of age will benefit from it as well as seniors, young adults, people with chronic medical conditions and pregnant moms.”
“With the flu being at peak this year, I think it’s all that more important to become vaccinated just because of the last couple years, we have not built up our immunity.”
He added all the data they received on this year’s strain and vaccine uptake came from Australia.
“They saw high levels of flu vaccine and all of that data they had is here and is what we are using,” added Loang.
According to the pharmacy, residents are able to get their COVID-19 booster and flu vaccines at the same seating at the College Heights location.
