A two-vehicle crash has claimed the life of one person.
Just after midnight (Thursday), the Williams Lake RCMP responded to a collision on Highway 97 in 141 Mile.
Police said when emergency vehicles arrived on the scene they found a Hyundai Accent and a tractor-trailer unit had collided head-on.
Following the crash, the semi caught on fire, and the two occupants were able to escape the burning cab uninjured.
However, police noted the driver of the Hyundai, a 64-year-old woman from Lac La Hache, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“While this investigation is ongoing, police do not believe there to be a criminal element into the cause of the crash,” Staff Sargeant, Del Byron, Operations NCO Williams Lake RCMP, said in a release.
