PG RCMP take down two known offenders after violent incident in College Heights

Prince George police officers escaped serious injury after the vehicles they were in were rammed by a pair of violent offenders over the weekend.

Just after 2 am on Saturday morning, officers located a vehicle near the 76-hundred block of Gladstone Drive in College Heights. The vehicle in question was associated to a known offender with ties to the illicit drug trade.

After a failed first attempt to stop the vehicle due to an expired license plate, it was sighted a second time on Simon Fraser Avenue but later struck a police car as it fled again.

“Police officers subsequently attempted to stop the vehicle due to the dangerous driving behaviour observed. They located the vehicle a third time in a cul-de-sac on the 8000-block of St John Place and attempted to arrest the driver, who then rammed an unoccupied police vehicle hard enough to set off the airbags, nearly pushing the vehicle into a nearby police officer with the force of the impact. The suspect vehicle then left the area, striking an additional police car as it drove away,” stated Cpl.Jennifer Cooper.

Officers successfully deployed a spike belt on Domano Boulevard and the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop on Moriarity Drive.

Police arrested Brent Morgan and Angeline Hammerstrom, who are both known to the police.

The BC Prosecution Service approved the following charges:

Brent Morgan:

– Aggravated assault of a police officer
– Flight while pursued by a police officer
– Dangerous operation of a conveyance
– Fail to stop at the scene of an accident

Angeline Hammerstrom:

– Fail to comply with release order

Morgan will remain in custody until his next court appearance; Hammerstrom was given a release order and is back in the community.

Damage to the police vehicles involved was substantial. The suspects were given appropriate medical attention before being released back into police custody.

Hammerstrom is no stranger to the RCMP. In July 2017, she was handed a number of charges following a traffic stop on Highway 5 near Clearwater.

In August of 2020, Hammerstrom along with Colin Michaud Durrand, another well-known offender faced further changes in relation to a drug trafficking investigation at a home on Kenwood Street.

Following that, Hammerstrom was wanted twice by the Prince George RCMP in June and October of 2021 for a slew of offenses.

Lastly, Hammerstrom was taken into custody again along with Durrand in November of that year at a Pine Street home after multiple arrest warrants were issued.

The file remains under investigation.
