ICYMI: Local volunteers to connect those with Diabetes to Diabetes Tech manufacturers

The Local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Volunteer Committee will be hosting a Diabetes Technology Open House

Megan Winia, Prince George Coordinator of Juvenile Diabetes Events said it’s kind of a trade show for those living with Type 1 Diabetes.

“What we do is basically allow the device companies to come out and chat with their clients and get some face-to-face time with their clients, or to allow those who are either looking for new technology or upgrading their technology to ask questions, or get help,” Winia explained.

Winia added they’re being more public with this year’s event.

“It’s come to our attention that we don’t have connections with all of those living with Type 1 in Prince George,” Winia said.

“Hopefully by being more public with our event as opposed to just working off our email list we’ll be able to reach more people.”

Winia said she has 88 people on her email list.

“I can guarantee you it’s more than that, hence us trying to encourage people to come out and meet us, and get connected into the community.”

The event will be held today at the Central BC Forestry and Railway Museum at 4:00 p.m.

More information about the event can be found here.
