The Canada West Men’s and Women’s soccer regular seasons have both come to a close.
It was one of the better years that UNBC has had since joining Canada West, with records broken, winning streaks, and close finishes in both playoff seeding races.
This has been reflected in the league’s annual All-Star team selection.
On the men’s side of things, both Michael Henman and Cody Gysbers were named first team all-stars.
Henman was the shining star in the soccer program this year, leading the country in goals and points and tying the all-time single season goals record at 19.
Gysbers, the team captain, had a goal and three assists as a defender this season.
Kensho Ando and Daniel Zadravec were both named second team all-stars.
Zadravec, the team’s goalie, was first in the league in saves made with 69, and had a 7-5-3 record in net. Five of those wins were shutouts.
Ando, a midfielder, did not spend a single second on the bench this season, playing all 1,440 minutes – the only player on the team other than Zadravec to do so.
Hagon Kim was the lone Timberwolf named to the All-Rookie team.

On the women’s side, Kiana Swift is representing UNBC as a first team all-star.
The midfielder had a goal, an assist, and 17 shots in 14 games this season, and has become the first player in UNBC women’s soccer history to be named to the first all-star team.
Paige Payne and Mara McCleary are both second-team all stars.
Payne led the team in scoring this season with eight goals and an assist in 13 games played, with 34 shots in that time.
McCleary, a defender, started in all 14 games of the season and played over a thousand minutes of soccer, chipping in an assist in the process.
Both of these players are second-time second team all-stars.
