Halloween is usually a holiday associated with hijinks and shenanigans, and this year was no different for the Prince George RCMP.
“The partying and celebrations stretched through the weekend, with police responding to an increase of 6% more files this weekend over the previous weekends in October,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
“Prince George RCMP Frontline Police Officers usually respond to an average of 140 calls for service on Halloween day itself, and this year was close with 113 calls for service, which is fairly typical for a Monday.”
Cooper said there were a few notable files over the weekend, with RCMP arresting four people for mischief when they were caught throwing rocks from a rooftop into a nearby crowd.
“In total, 37 people were arrested and brought to Prince George Detachment cells for offenses such as causing a disturbance, being intoxicated in a public place and assault, among others,” Cooper said.
Cooper added that October typically marks the beginning of the holiday season, as people start to get ready for upcoming Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
“Prince George RCMP is encouraging everyone enjoy the holiday season safely, including planning a safe and sober ride home if you will be drinking alcohol or consuming cannabis.”
