Northern drivers will likely experience a challenging day on our roads and highways as a snowfall warning remains in place.
According to Environment Canada, the Prince George-Vanderhoof area can expect between 15-20 centimetres of snow as an atmospheric river comes over the Central Interior near noon today (Thursday).
In addition, winds gusting up to 60 km/hr will hamper visibility in blowing snow.
The heavy snow is expected to ease to a few flurries by Friday morning followed by a period of wet rain or snow later tomorrow.
Motorists should be prepared to adjust their driving to changing conditions.
Meteorologist, Bobby Sekohn told Vista Radio that any relief we get from the atmospheric river will be short-lived.
“We will be warming up tomorrow to a high of plus four degrees so we might get some melting but then after that, we start to see some arctic air slide in over the weekend and into next week.”
Temperatures are expected to dip into the minus double-digits by Sunday.
