WHL:

Kelowna Rockets  8  Prince George Cougars  6

The Rockets snapped a 6-6 tie with 3:16 left and added an empty netter to snap the Cougars three-game winning streak before 3,510 fans in Kelowna.

The two teams combined to score on a whopping 25 % of their shots (14 goals on 56 shots).

The Cougars big line combined for 10 points with Koehn Ziemmer and Chase Wheatcroft each putting up two goals and an assist while Riley Heidt added four assists.

Cole Dubinsky, who was acquired from Regina on Friday, scored once and added an assist in his Prince George debut.

The (9-8) Cougars host the Vancouver Giants Saturday night at 6:00 and Sunday afternoon at 2:00.

Prince George leads the B.C. Division by a point over Kamloops, although the (7-4-2-1) Blazers have three games in hand.

The Blazers lost 2-1 in overtime at home Wednesday night against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The (9-4-1-1) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (4-9-2) Merritt Centennials tonight
(Thursday at 7:00) and Friday afternoon at 4:00.

The Spruce Kings are 3rd and the Centennials 8th in the 9-team Interior Division.

Canada West Sports:

Steve Simonson of the UNBC Timberwolves has been named the USports men’s soccer coach of the year.

Simonson guided the Timberwolves to a third-place finish in the Pacific Division with a record of 8-5-3.

UNBC’s Michael Henman was named an All-Canadian in soccer after scoring a Canada-West record-tying 19 goals.

The UNBC Timberwolves visit the UBC Thunderbirds in Canada West basketball Saturday and Sunday afternoons starting with the women at 2:00 followed by the men at 4:00.

UNBC is 1-1 (Men) and 0-2 (women) while UBC is 0-0 in both divisions.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18) 

The (5-4-1) U18 Cougars play their next league games on November 19th (5:45 p.m. Kin 2) and 20th (8:15 a.m. Kin 2) when they host the (9-3) Okanagan Rockets.

This weekend, the U18 Cougars play at the Okanagan Classic tournament in Kelowna.

(U18 female) 

The (5-9-2) Northern Capitals play their next games in Kelowna against the (4-7-0-1) Thompson-Okanagan Lakers on November 19th at 1:15 p.m. and Nov 20th at 8:30 a.m.
