“We’re not playing the right way and we got what we deserved.”
That’s how Prince George Cougars Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb described his team’s 5-4 loss to the Vancouver Giants last night (Saturday).
The two teams traded goals throughout the first two periods in front of 4,463 fans at the CN Centre, the biggest home crowd for the Cats this season.
Ty Young was looking for his fifth win in a row, but was replaced by Tyler Brennan after giving up three goals on 12 shots.
Koehn Ziemmer (1 G, 1 A) and Hudson Thornton (2 A) each picked up a pair of points to extend their point streaks to 10 games.
Ziemmer is second in goals (16) and scoring (31 points) on the season behind Connor Bedard of the Regina Pats.
Ryker Singer, Chase Wheatcroft, and Cole Dubinksy also scored for the Cougars.

The duo of Zack Ostapchuk (1 G, 4 A) and Samuel Hoznek (2 G, 2 A) proved to be too much for the Cougars to handle, combining for nine points.
The third member of the Giants top line, Ty Thorpe, had a goal (to make it 4-3 Vancouver late in the second period) and one assist.
The full boxscore can be found here.
“We weren’t ready to play, didn’t like our game at all,” said Lamb on last night’s post-game show on 94.3 The Goat.
“We’re not defending at all, we’re just playing mini-sticks, and just going out there trying to score, and play one way, and it’s a bad recipe.”
With the loss the Cougars fell to 9-9-0-0, while the Giants improved to 7-7-2-2.
Both Prince George and Vancouver are one point behind the B.C. Division leading Kamloops Blazers.
The (8-4-2-1) Blazers whipped the Kelowna Rockets 6-1 Saturday night.
The two teams will face off again this afternoon (2:00), as the Cougars will have their first Mega 50/50 Jackpot draw of the season.
