Canfor Leisure Pool (finally) officially opens

Last one in the pool’s a rotten egg!

The Canfor Leisure Pool held its grand opening celebration Sunday night.

Around 200 people dove into the pool for the first time during the celebration.

City Councillor Kyle Sampson said it was exciting to see people finally enjoying the pool.

“This has been going on since before my time on council,” Sampson reflected.

The referendum came in 2017, the city voted largely to go ahead with this project, and so we were able to get that ball rolling the last term, begin the development, and really see the project through to the end.”

Sampson added he was able to get a bit of a sneak peek on Friday.

“My favourite part was the waterslide, I mean, big man-child at times, and who doesn’t like a good waterslide?” he said.

The pool was completed and the ribbon was cut last month.

The new pool opens at 9:00 a.m. each day and the full hours can be found here.
