BC Liberals kick off voting referendum to change party name

B-C’s Liberals have until 10 tomorrow (Tuesday) morning to vote on a proposal to change the party name to “B-C United.”

Kevin Falcon made the issue one of his platform planks during his successful bid for leadership.

B-C’s Liberals are at the center-right on the political spectrum and aren’t affiliated with the federal Liberals.

Many party supporters feel the name has discouraged conservatives from voting for them.

If 60 percent of members approve the name change, the party will launch a process to change its constitution.
