Northern Fancon announces two headline guests as tickets go on sale

Fans are already getting excited about the 8th Northern Fancon convention coming to Prince George in May, as two major headliners for the event were announced this week as a lead-up to tickets going on sale.

The first headliner announced was Jessica Darrow, best known for her role as Luisa in Disney’s 2021 smash hit Encanto.

“[She] has super range,” said Fancon Organizer Norm Coyne, pointing at other work she has done, from voice acting in Grand Theft Auto Five to being an accomplished singer.

The second headliner announced is Michael Cudlitz, who is most recently well known for his role as Abraham in The Walking Dead.

“He is known for so many reasons,” said Coyne, “starting all the way back with The Mighty Ducks. An interesting point on Michael Cudlitz,” Coyne continued, “he actually reached out to us to come to Fancon. It is pretty cool when that happens.”

Fancon’s Facebook page has also teased some representation from the TV series Yellowstone, but Coyne said he could not confirm anything quite yet.

Even though the event is still over five months away, Coyne says he is getting excited.

“Where else are you going to walk into a room and see batman walking around with a stormtrooper?” he said with a laugh.

He hopes this year sees a pre-pandemic level of fans come out to Exhibition Park.

“For an event like this, of course we want a huge audience,” he said. “The reality of it is, it is so special to the people that are there, we would do it if there are only 2,000 people that came… the numbers will be the numbers, it is up to us to make sure everyone has a great time.”

Tickets first went on sale yesterday. Coyne mentioned that the early bird prices will end on January first.
