Parks, problem properties and projects to be discussed at PG council meeting

Prince George City Council will be sitting down with a lengthy agenda tonight.

Council will be discussing whether or not to change the name of Fort George Park to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Councillor Murry Krause would like to change the name of the park to “commemorate, in a respectful way, a
troubling time in the City’s history when Lheidli T’enneh people were forcibly removed from their land.”

More detail on Initiatives Prince George’s succession plan will be released by City Manager Kathleen Soltis.

A delegation from Literacy Prince George and Mount Milligan Mine will also make a presentation to council.

A proposal from city staff to apply for a federal grant to improve the downtown library branch will come forward.

Options on how to improve affordable housing will be brought before council.

Councillors will also look at remedial action for two issue properties, one on George Street, the other on North Blackburn Road.

The meeting gets underway at six pm in council chambers.
