The Prince George Outdoor Ice Oval is getting ready to open once again.
Ice Oval Society President Kathy Lewis says the cold weather that’s hitting Prince George this week has been helping improve the ice conditions.
“As soon as the cold snap started, we started flooding again. We lost a fair bit of ice during the thaw, and so we had to rebuild that,” Lewis said.
“It was to the point where we couldn’t run machinery on it, it would’ve broken through, so we’ve been back to hand flooding with hoses.”
Lewis said they’re hoping to re-open tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon, and expect to stay open over the next couple of weeks.
