Revelstoke striker to join UNBC Timberwolves WSOC

The UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team looked to the Kootenays for their first recruit as they prepare for the 2023 Canada West season.

Fia Cameron announced her commitment to play for the program today (Monday),

“UNBC stood out because it is a smaller community and a smaller school, which I think is going to be an easier transition for me coming from a small town and small high school. I’ve really enjoyed Neil’s coaching style. Even in just the couple days I have been here, I have learned a lot. The team has been really nice and welcoming, and has given me a lot of tips and information for soccer and school, as well.”

Cameron played her club soccer with Thompson Okanagan FC, making multiple trips a week to train in that area.

“Speed is one of my strengths. I use that to my advantage to beat people on the wing. I love delivering balls into the box to try to get other people scoring opportunities.”

Cameron visited UNBC’s Prince George campus for an identification camp, joining a large group of athletes looking to take the step to the Canada West level.

Set to graduate from Revelstoke Secondary School in June, Cameron plans to study sciences at UNBC, focusing on biochemistry.
