WHL:

Seattle Thunderbirds  8  Prince George Cougars  1

Seattle’s Nico Myatovic, who is from PG, had a goal and three assists for the CHL-top ranked Thunderbirds, who enjoyed period leads of 4-0 and 6-1 before 3,468 fans in Kent, Washington.

It was the 5th straight loss for Prince George.

The (14-15-1) Cougars host the (16-6-3-2) Kamloops Blazers Friday night at 7:00 and Saturday night at 6:00 with Saturday being the Teddy Bear Toss game.

NHL: 

Alex Ovechkin notched a hat trick to become the 3rd player in NHL history to score 800 goals.

Ovechkin had three goals and an assist to lead the Washington Capitals to a 7-3 victory over the Blackhawks in Chicago.

Three Canadian teams were in action among 12 Tuesday games in the NHL.

The (12-13-3) Vancouver Canucks visit the (13-11-5) Calgary Flames tonight (7:00 PT).

The Canucks are five points out of the last wild-card spot.

BCHL:

The (14-10-1-1) Prince George Spruce Kings have two games left before their Christmas break.

The Spruce Kings visit the (22-4) Nanaimo Clippers on Friday and the (11-14-0-1) Chilliwack Chiefs on Saturday.

Prince George is 5th out of 9 in the Interior Division.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(Under-18)

The (5-10-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars play the (10-7-2-1) Vancouver NE Chiefs Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and the (11-8) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Sunday morning at 9 in North Vancouver.
