PG Public Library seeking nominees for local history awards

The Prince George Public Library will be handing out a pair of awards for local history in the coming new year.

The awards are for the Jeanne Clarke Local History Award, with the goal of increasing interest in local history.

There are two categories for awards; the Service Award and the Publication Award.

The Service Award was established in 1985 and recognizes outstanding contributions by an individual or group in the area of local history.

The Publication Award was added by the PGPL Board in 1993 so authors could be recognized for producing an important new work of local history.

“We are especially looking for nominations for the Service Award,” said Jen Rubadeau, PGPL’s manager of Communications and Engagement.

“Past recipients who demonstrated remarkable contributions in the area of promoting and preserving local history include the Prince George Native Friendship Centre, Mary Gouchie and the Exploration Place, the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, Trelle Morrow and Kym Gouchie.”

Nominations can be dropped off, mailed to Jen Rubadeau at the library, or emailed to [email protected]
