World Junior Hockey:

The semifinals will be played today at the world junior hockey championship in Halifax.

Canada goes against the USA (3:30 PM PT) after Czechia battles Sweden (11:30 AM).

The winners face off for gold on Thursday (3:30).

17-year-old Connor Bedard is already Canada’s all-time goal-scoring leader at the tournament with 16 and all-time points leader with 34.

NHL: (11 Tuesday games with all seven Canadian teams in action)

The (16-18-3) Canucks suffered their third consecutive loss.

It is the 16th time this season (in just 37 games) that Vancouver has given up at least five goals.

The Canucks host the Colorado Avalanche Thursday night at 7:00.

WHL:

The Prince George Cougars host the Everett Silvertips Friday and Saturday.

Both teams have 33 points after 34 games.

The (15-16-3) Cougars are tied with the (16-17-1) Silvertips for 6th in the Western Conference, just one point behind the (16-16-1-1) Tri-City Americans and the (14-16-4-2) Vancouver Giants.

Everett is riding a 5-game losing streak.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will host the BCHL-leading Penticton Vees on Friday and Saturday.

The (16-11-2-1) Spruce Kings are 4th in the 9-team Interior Division while the (29-2) Vees have won five in a row after starting the season by winning their first 24.

NFL: 

The uncle of injured Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, (Dorrian Glenn), told ESPN Tuesday night that Hamlin is sedated and “improving from where he was yesterday (Monday).”

Hamlin’s agent, Ron Butler, stated to ESPN that Hamlin’s oxygen levels have improved.

The 24-year-old Hamlin had his heartbeat restored on the field Monday night after suffering a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Bills’ game against the Bengals, which was later postponed.

Hamlin’s family has thanked the public for its support for Damar, who remains in critical condition in a Cincinnati hospital.

The NFL has issued a statement that the Bills-Bengals game will not resume this week.

UNBC Timberwolves:

The UNBC Timberwolves host the Manitoba Bisons in Canada West basketball Friday night at 5:00 and 7:00 and Saturday night at 4:00 and 6:00.

The women tip off first followed by the men.

UNBC is 5-3 (men) and 1-7 (women) while Manitoba is 7-1 (men) and 0-8 (women).

The (16-21) Toronto Raptors host the (24-13) Milwaukee Bucks tonight (Wednesday 4:30 PT).

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18 male)

The (5-12-1) Under-18 Cariboo Cougars visit the (4-17-0-1) Thompson Blazers Saturday afternoon at 2:15 in Kamloops and Sunday morning at 10:00 in Chase.

The Cougars are riding a 10-game losing streak.

Cariboo is 7th and Thompson 8th in the nine-team U-18 Division.

(U18 female)

The (6-11-2) Northern Capitals play four games this week at the league showcase in Richmond.

The U-18 female Caps face off against the (17-0) Fraser Valley Rush Friday morning at 10:00 and the (1-17-2) Greater Vancouver Comets Friday night at 6:00.

They also meet the (8-9-0-1) Thompson-Okanagan Lakers Saturday afternoon at 1:45 and the Comets again Sunday morning at 8:00.
