Amanda Holmes takes on Executive Director role with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northern BC

Overjoyed, excited, and ready to get started.

Those are the words of Amanda Holmes who is the new Executive Director of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northern BC.

She replaces Tim Bennett who left the role at the end of December to take a position with Scouts Canada.

Holmes told MyPGNow.com that working for a not-for-profit again feels good.

“There is something about leaving your work day knowing that you have made a difference in so many people’s lives that fills your cup. I am so excited about that opportunity.”

She admits there are some big shoes to fill as Bennett spent 17 years at BIGS NBC. However, Holmes isn’t looking to make any sweeping changes, given the organization’s track record and positive impact in the communities they serve.

“To be honest, going into this role, the team at BIGS is absolutely amazing. These people are professionals and they know what they are doing.”

“Everything that they are doing is working fabulously so if it’s not broken don’t fix it. Let’s just continue to grow upon the legacy that Tim left.”

The number one priority for Holmes improving the childcare landscape for families in Prince George and across the north.

“We know that there is a huge need for child care here in Prince George and I think one of the main goals is to provide that care for the people that need it as well as the mentorship programs.”

Holmes brings a ton of marketing experience to the position leading that charge for employers like the Treasure Cove Casino, Prince George Hospice Palliative Care Society, and Northland Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM.

She begins her new role on January 16th.
