Eight points in four games earns Ziemmer WHL Player of the Week honours

An impressive week in the WHL for Cougars forward Koehn Ziemmer has earned him some recognition from the league.

Ziemmer was named the WHL’s Player of the Week, after scoring six goals and two assists in four games.

That included three two-goal games in a row, and three-point nights in wins over the Calgary Hitmen and Edmonton Oil Kings.

Ziemmer has 26 goals and 62 points in 43 games this season, surpassed his point total of 57 points from last season.

Last year, he had 30 goals in 68 games with the Cats.

He’s currently tied with Andrew Cristall of the Kelowna Rockets for third in WHL scoring, trailing Zach Benson of the Winnipeg ICE (65 points), and Connor Bedard of the Regina Pats (81 points).

NHL Central Scouting has Ziemmer slated in at 20th in their mid-term rankings.

Ziemmer, along with linemate Riley Heidt will play in Wednesday’s CHL Top Prospects game at the Langley Events Centre.
