PG Mounties arrest man with knife near local elementary school

The Prince George RCMP have arrested a man who was walking with a knife near an elementary school

Just before 2:30 this afternoon, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a man walking on Range Road near Wiebe Road, who was uttering threats towards unknown persons, and had a long knife in his hand.

According to police, they flooded the area as the suspect was close to an elementary school, and it was near the end of the school day.

The suspect was located and arrested without incident within twelve minutes of receiving the complaint.

The man, who is known to police, was found to be breaching a release order at the time of his arrest.

“Multiple units responded to this complaint, including Frontline Police Officers, a Police Service Dog Team, and the Emergency Response Team, as the safety of those in the area and those the man threatened to harm,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

The suspect will remain in custody until he can attended court, and the file remains under investigation.
