City crews continue to work as quickly as they can to clean the massive amounts of snow on some of our streets.
Depending on where you are, between 25 and 33 centimetres fell over three days in Prince George.
Manager of Roads and Fleet, Jordan Wiseman told MyPGNow.com they are working in the blue zones today (Friday) before moving on to residential areas.
“Which would be College Heights. The Yellow zones should be finished today and I would suspect that by Monday night we should be looking fairly well as far as residential then we will just have some cleanup to do and of course, we will have to deal with all the windrows we have stacked up through the city.”
Wiseman added they had to clean a lot of the Priority 1 and 2 routes several times because the 7.5 centimetre threshold was reached several times during the storm.
“The unfortunate part is that we had to go back and revisit some of the priority ones and two’s that we had already been on. Once that 7.5 centimetre threshold was met again, the snow and ice control policy dictates that we revisit that,” added Wiseman.
With Old Man Winter flexing his muscles from Monday afternoon to Wednesday evening, Wiseman stated street crews wasted little time cleaning the snow that was left behind.
“Once the threshold was hit crews were deployed to deal with priority one and two routes and that continued on through the entire snowstorm.”
