PG Community Foundation distributes first grants from Spruce Credit Union Legacy Fund

The first recipients of the Spruce Credit Union Legacy Fund have been announced.

Through the fund, the Prince George Community Foundation (PGCF) will be distributing $241,250 to three different projects.

The recipients of the first round of funding are:

  • Elder Citizens Recreation Association, $11,250 for a kitchen renew
  • Prince George Agricultural and Historical Association, $80,000 for a BCNE Outdoor Ag Arena Revival,
  • Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, $150,000 for a portable Cardiac Care Machine.

“I think that they’re all very special projects in our community,” said PGCF Director of Development Mindy Stroet.

“They’re significant projects that will have long-term lasting impacts for years to come.”

The remaining funds from the original $750,000 will be put into an endowment fund to be used for future grants.

“We’re looking for big ideas, things that are going to have a long-term impact on the community, somethings that’s going to benefit a large amount of residents,” Stroet added.

She said they’re hoping to be granting again this fall.
