Rural businesses in BC are set to receive more financial support from the province when it comes to job creation.
Today (Thursday), the provincial government is allocating $4.5 million dollars during the second installment of the Rural Business and Community Recovery Initiative.
This next allotment will shift from pandemic recoveries to supporting economic development in communities impacted by recent changes in the forestry sector.
“We applaud the Province for addressing the recent impacts of the forestry sector in communities throughout North and British Columbia. With this funding, we can provide assistance where it is most needed and work with communities to strengthen our economic future.” – Joel McKay, CEO, Northern Development Initiative Trust.
The funding will be distributed through regional programs by the Northern Development Initiative Trust, the Economic Trust of the Southern Interior, and the Island Coastal Economic Trust with each receiving $1.5 million dollars.
This is part of a 185-million-dollar support package announced by the province during Budget 2022.
