Parents express concerns about school facilities report

There is some parental concern when it comes to possible changes in School District 57.

One being the proposed idea from the district’s long term facilities plan is moving the French Immersion program from Duchess Park Secondary to Prince George Secondary School.

Parent Bonnie White says the issue is how the change will affect students.

“Basically as advocates for our children, I have concerns that if one of my children decides not to stay in the French Immersion program, my oldest is already at Duchess, they decide to move the program he has to make an adjustment a new school, a new group of friends.”

White says the fact this move could break up families is also a concern.

No final plans have been made by the district with discussions on the long range facility plan to begin in the fall.
