Slippery conditions making life more difficult for PG mail carriers

Over the past week, a couple of Prince George mail carriers have sustained on-the-job injuries due to the recent snow and ice scattered around the city.

The postal workers union is asking residents and businesses to provide a clear three-foot pathway that is sanded or graveled to their mailbox.

Local CUPW President, Rick Harris spoke with MyPGNow.com.

“We are trying to deliver the mail safely and the deliveries are getting out on time. There is no issue with that, it is just about the safety of our mail carriers.”

“The thaw and the freezing to go along with the light snow on top of the ice has made conditions real treacherous for our letter carriers.”

Harris added the icy conditions will not cause a postponement or cancellation of mail delivery service in the city.

Temperatures will be hovering around the freezing mark for the next few days with either snow or flurries in the forecast.
