WHL:

The Prince George Cougars are back in action this afternoon (2:00) after almost a week off.

They’ll face off against the Portland Winterhawks (36-13-2-2) in the first game of a doubleheader.

Head-to-head this season, the Cougars and Winterhawks have split the two games they played.

On November 3rd, the Cougars took the win in a shootout thriller.

On December 8th, the Cats fell 4-2 to the Winterhawks, despite an outstanding performance from Tyler Brennan.

The Cougars (24-23-4-0) sit sixth in the WHL’s Western Conference, trailing the Everett Silvertips (27-23-2-1) by five points.

BCHL:

Prince George Spruce Kings  4  Salmon Arm Silverbacks  3

The Silverbacks stormed out to a 3-1 lead in the second period, but the Spruce Kings answered with three goals of their own in the third.

Ben LeFranc, Linden Makow, Jack Stockfish, and Kai Greaves were the goal scorers for the Spruce Kings.

With the win, the Spruce Kings (23-16-4-1) vaulted from fifth place to third in the BCHL’s Interior Division standings.

They were behind Salmon Arm (22-16-4-1) and the West Kelowna Warriors (23-16-4-0).

The Spruce Kings will play their next four games at home, starting with a Friday night matchup against the Powell River Kings.

PGA Tour: Genesis Invitational:

Jon Rahm took the win, posting a weekend score of -17, beating Max Homa by two strokes.

Canadian Adam Svensson finished in a three-way tie for ninth, posting a score of -9.
