Cougars forward Jaxsen Wiebe signs with Anaheim

Another Prince George Cougar has signed on with an NHL club.

Jaxsen Wiebe signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Anaheim Ducks Organization after signing my first NHL contract,” Wiebe said.

“It is a great opportunity with all of the young talent they have there, and I am eager for the journey ahead. I want to say a big thank you to my family, billet families, friends, teammates, Thunder Creek agency, and all of the supporting staff I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the past five years of my junior career.”

Since being acquired from the Edmonton Oil Kings in November, the 20-year-old forward has 11 goals and 27 points in 28 games with the Cougars.

“He’s a player that has earned this contract by working hard, excelling in his role, and believing in himself,” said Cougars Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb.

He’s also accumulated 49 penalty minutes in that span.

Wiebe joins Cougars Captain Ethan Samson as the second Prince George Cougar to sign with an NHL team this season.
