35 WHL players were selected in the 2015 NHL Draft in Sunrise, Florida, four of them from the Prince George Cougars.

Jansen Harkins was chosen in the 2nd round, 47th overall by the Winnipeg Jets.

Brad Morrison was taken in the 4th round, 113th overall by the N.Y. Rangers.

San Ruopp went in the 5th round, 129th overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Tate Olson was the second last player selected in the Draft, 210th overall by the Vancouver Canucks.

–The PG Cougars had just a total of five players selected in the previous six NHL Drafts.

–The Regina Pats led all WHL teams with five players chosen in the NHL Draft. Prince George and Seattle were next with four each. Five teams (Edmonton, Kootenay, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Vancouver) did not have a player drafted.

–18 WHL forwards were selected in the 2015 NHL Draft while 15 defencemen & two goaltenders were chosen. Five of the 35 were picked in the first round.

–Only one BCHL player was chosen in the NHL Draft (Marcus Vela of Langley to San Jose) and that was in the 7th round 190th overall.

–Former Saskatoon Blades coach and GM Lorne Molleken is expected to be named head coach of the Vancouver Giants. Molleken has 603 career coaching wins, good for 4th on the WHL’s all-time list.

–The CHL Import Draft will be held Tuesday. The Prince George Cougars have the 20th overall pick.

–Former PG Cougars defenceman Martin Marincin has been traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Toronto Maple Leafs for prospect Brad Ross and a fourth-round draft pick. The 23-year-old Marincin had a goal and four assists in 41 games with the Oilers last season.

–The BX Pub Bandits & the Quesnel Crossfire start their best of 5 Prince George Senior Lacrosse semi-final tonight (Monday) at 8 at Kin 1. In the other semi: the unbeaten Westwood Pub Devils take on the Northland/Nissan Assault starting Tuesday night at 8 at Kin 1.
