WHL:

The Prince George Cougars are on the road to play four games in five days starting tonight (Wednesday) against the (23-33-3) Rockets in Kelowna.

They also visit the Victoria Royals Friday and Saturday and battle the Vancouver Giants Sunday at 4:00 in Langley.

The (30-24-5) Cougars, with just nine games left before playoffs, are 4th in the Western Conference, two points ahead of both Everett and Tri-City.

Everett will host Kamloops this evening while Tri-City is idle.

NHL: (10 Tuesday games with 3 Canadian teams in action)

The (26-32-5) Vancouver Canucks are 2-1 on a six-game homestand which will continue tonight at 7:00 against the Anaheim Ducks.

The only other Wednesday games in the NHL have Minnesota at Winnipeg and Chicago at Detroit.

The Canucks are 26th in the overall standings.

BCHL:

The (24-19-4-1) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (26-17-5) West Kelowna Warriors on Friday and the (22-20-2-4) Vernon Vipers on Saturday.

The Spruce Kings have just six regular-season games left, two at home and four on the road.

(PG will also host Salmon Arm on March 18th and 19th and close with a doubleheader in Cranbrook on March 24th and 25th)

Prince George is 5th in the 9-team Interior Division while West Kelowna is 3rd and Vernon 7th.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

Both the Under-18 and U-17 Cariboo Cougars have playoff games this weekend against the Okanagan Rockets starting Friday in Kelowna.

They will also meet Saturday, with if necessary games in the best-of-three series on Sunday.

It is the U-17 semifinals and the U-18 quarterfinals.

(The U-18 games are scheduled for Friday night at 7:00, Saturday night at 6:45, and if needed Sunday morning at 9:45)

(U-17 games will go Friday afternoon at 3:00, Saturday afternoon at 3:30, and if needed Sunday morning at 10:45)

High School Basketball:

A total of 64 teams, broken into four 16-team tiers, compete in the 2023 BC
School Sports Boys Basketball Provincial Championships at the Langley Events Centre.

The competition begins today and concludes on Saturday.

A total of five teams from Prince George and Vanderhoof are among the participants.

Cedars Christian (Prince George) is ranked 8th and Northside Christian (Vanderhoof) is seeded 12th in 1A Boys.

Nechako Valley is ranked #14 in 2A Boys.

College Heights is seeded #14 in 3A Boys.

PGSS is ranked #15 in 4A Boys.

 

NBA:

The (32-34) Toronto Raptors are 1-2 on a 5-game road trip that will continue tonight at 7:00 against the (34-33) Clippers in LA.

Curling:

Alberta (Koe) and Manitoba (Dunstone) are 6-0 after the morning draw today (Wednesday) at the Tim Hortons Brier in London, Ontario.

Those two teams will play each other tonight in Pool A.
