Pride Reading Series returning to Theatre NorthWest

Theatre NorthWest is bringing back its Pride Reading Series.

“It’s really important to us, as an organization, that we make as much space as possible for all groups in the community,” said Theatre NorthWest Artistic Producer Marnie Hamagami.

“We’re really excited to have these artists here in our space, and I think the subject matter they’re covering is really exciting.”

The first production will be Darcy and Wickham written by Julian Legere, which is sort of retelling of Pride and Prejudice.

“It’s really been so exciting, especially with a theatre that’s this big that takes up this much space in the community, I think it’s always so important to make sure that every corner of the community has a little bit of space and time in it,” Legere said.

“Being able to do this Pride Series and sort of take over the theatre a few times a year and really get some pride going, get some queer storytelling happening, it’s really exciting.”

The first stage reading will be on March 29th, and will be followed by Dragonfly on April 5th, and Swollen Tongues on April 12th.
