Prince George ready for a downtown smackdown

Professional wrestling is back in Prince George.

Primetime Wrestling is debuting with one show tomorrow (Friday) and one on Saturday.

“Canadian Tire has come on board to sponsor the entire show, so that means 100 per cent of all ticket sales are going to the Northern BC Crisis Centre,”  said Stuart Brown, Chief Operating Officer of Primetime Wrestling.

In October, Brown and others held a pair of tribute shows, hosting the Prime Time Tournament named after the first winner, “Prime Time” Franky Styles.

Styles took his own life during the pandemic at the age of 35.

“We did the shows, and really enjoyed doing it, so we figured lets make this a regular thing in Prince George again, and honour him by calling the company Primetime,” Brown explained.

The company will debut with two shows this weekend.

“Our two brand new title belts up for grabs, the first night (Friday) we’re going to have our Northwestern Championship, there’ll be three singles matches, with the winners of those matches going on to fight a triple-threat match in the main event, and the winner of that walks home with one of our new title belts,” Brown explained.

Brown added Saturday’s main event will be a 13-man Royal Rumble, with the winner taking home the company’s Heavyweight title.

The weekend will feature three local wrestlers, with more from Alberta and the Okanagan.

Brown says there’s two more dates in May booked for the company, but they’re looking to add more in the future.
