“The importance of women’s rights is really topical.”
That is according to Kim Hayhurst, the Makerie’s Owner and Master of Creative Chaos, when talking about her upcoming event – Makerie Untamed.
It will take place on March 31st, and will feature food, drinks, a small market, live music, and a life drawing session featuring two live nude models.
The night is more than just a chance to get together with some friends and members of the community, however.
“With everything that we see going on in the states, the conversations and laws that are happening around women losing control of our bodies… the importance of women’s rights is really topical. Just as topical now as it is any other time,” Hayhurst told My PG Now.
“We needed to do something to help women feel confident in who they are and take ownership of their space and place.”
One of the things that Hayhurst emphasized was how excited she is for the life models.
One of the two models is transgender and is currently in the process of transitioning.
“It is really great,” she said, “we are very much an inclusive space… it is so rare to have a person who is transitioning be comfortable to share that experience in this way.”
Because of the life drawing the event is strictly 18+.
While the night will be based in fun, Hayhurst said there will also be moments of “real reflection,” and would love to host more events like this on an annual basis.
The night is limited to 40 people, tickets are on sale online now. After tax, they cost $218. The event runs from 7:00 – 10:00.
