Silverbacks double up on Spruce Kings to take 2-0 series lead

The Prince George Spruce Kings find themselves in a hole following a 6-3 loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks last night. (Saturday)

The Silverbacks extended their series lead to 2-0 in front of 1,378 fans at the Shaw Centre.

Salmon Arm struck first but Linden Makow and Ty Gagno each scored to give the Spruce Kings a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

After that, it was almost all Salmon Arm.

The Silverbacks scored four goals in the second period, while Jake Schneider tallied one for the Spruce Kings.

The Silverbacks capped off the night with one more goal in the third.

Jordan Fairlie made 43 saves in the loss, earning him Third Star honours.

The series will shift to Prince George for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday.
