WHL:

The Prince George Cougars have arrived in Seattle in preparation for their games against the Thunderbirds in Kent, Washington.

The Cougars visit the Western Conference regular-season champions Friday night at 7:05 and Saturday night at 6:05.

The Cougars host Games 3 and 4 of their second-round series on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, April 18th and 19th.

Over 3,000 tickets have already been sold for Game 3.

The Islanders clinched the final Eastern Conference wildcard playoff spot.

The victory by the Islanders eliminated the Pittsburgh Penguins, who at 16 years, had the longest active playoff streak in major North American professional sports.

The (37-37-7) Vancouver Canucks conclude their season in Arizona against the (28-40-13) Coyotes tonight with a 7:00 start.

Women’s World Hockey Championship: (in Brampton, Ontario)

The quarterfinals go today (Thursday) followed by the semis on Saturday and the medal games on Sunday.

Canada plays Sweden at 2:00 this afternoon (PT).

The Canadian team won all four of its games in Group A after Monday’s 4-3 shootout victory over the USA.

The loss eliminated the Raptors and ended their season.

The Bulls will visit the Miami Heat Friday night (4:00 PT) with the winner advancing to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

Oklahoma City will play the Timberwolves in Minnesota Friday night (6:30 PT) with the winner to battle the Western Conference regular-season champion Denver Nuggets in the quarterfinals.

The (8-4) Jays host the (2-9) Tigers again tonight (4:07 PT).

Toronto will entertain Tampa Bay this weekend.

UPDATE: The Rays beat Boston again today (Thursday) 9-3 to improve to 13-0.

The 1987 Milwaukee Brewers and the 1982 Atlanta Braves (along with the 2023 Tampa Bay Rays) share the best start in the major leagues since 1900 at 13-0.
