WHL:

The WHL Conference semifinals begin tonight (Friday).

Among the four games: the Prince George Cougars at the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent, Washington.

The two teams also play south of the border Saturday night.

The Cougars host Games 3 and 4 of their second-round series on Tuesday and Wednesday.

More than two-thirds of the tickets for each of those midweek games at CN Centre have been sold.

The other three league games this evening have Portland at Kamloops, Moose Jaw at Winnipeg, and Red Deer at Saskatoon.

Quarterfinal: Canada  3  Sweden  2  (OT)

Canada will face Switzerland and the U.S. will meet Czechia in the semifinals on Saturday.

The (8-5) Jays host the (13-0) Tampa Bay Rays this weekend.

NBA:

There are two NBA elimination games tonight.

In the East: the Chicago Bulls visit the Miami Heat (4:00 PT) with the winner advancing to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

In the West: The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Timberwolves in Minnesota (6:30 PT) with the winner to battle the Western Conference regular-season champion Denver Nuggets in the quarterfinals.
