WHL:

Seattle Thunderbirds  5  Prince George Cougars  1  (Saturday)

Brad Lambert notched a goal and added three assists as the Thunderbirds took a 2-0 series lead before 4,650 fans in Kent, Washington.

Lambert has seven points in the two games against the Cougars.

Seattle went 3-for-4 on the power play while P.G. was 0-for-5.

With the Cougars down 1-0, they failed to score on a two-man advantage for a full two minutes in the second period.

The best-of-7 Western Conference semifinal series shifts to Prince George for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday at CN Centre.

More than 4,000 tickets have been sold for Game 3 and nearly as many for Game 4.

Dylan Guenther scored the first two goals of the game and Brad Lambert finished with three assists for the Thunderbirds, who outshot the Cougars 44-24 before a crowd of 4,013 in Kent, Washington.

Nico Myatovic, who is from Prince George, put one into an empty net for Seattle.

PG Cougars goalie Tyler Brennan has signed a 3-year, entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils.

The 19-year-old Brennan was selected by the Devils’ 102nd overall in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Draft.
