Kelowna cousins score five million dollar jackpot on Easter weekend

It was an egg-stra special Easter for a pair of Kelowna cousins.

Hoa and Duc Nguyen won a whopping five million dollars after all six of their numbers matched during the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot on April 8th.

“I matched the winning numbers online to the numbers on our ticket and couldn’t believe it,” Hoa recalled. “I thought, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I was speechless.”

The ticket was purchased from the Orchard Park Mall on Harvey Avenue in Kelowna.

Duc and Hoa had pre-planned to go out for breakfast with some family members later that morning, which turned out to be the perfect opportunity to surprise them all with the exciting news.

“They were all freaking out and nobody could finish their breakfast,” Hoa said. “They were all shaking with excitement!”

Both enjoy fishing and plan to purchase a boat with part of their prize while also looking forward to visiting family in Vietnam.

In addition, Hoa also plans to buy a house.

Last year, BC lottery players redeemed over 113 million dollars in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
