COUGARS SELECT FORWARD AND DEFENCEMAN AT CHL IMPORT DRAFT

The Prince George Cougars went to the Netherlands to make their first selection at this morning’s CHL Import Draft.

The Cougars selected 17-year old Bartek Bison who played last season with an U-19 program in Mannheim, Germany collecting 2 goals in 17 games and appearing in 4 play-off games scoring once.

The 6-3 187 pound Bison also represented the Netherlands at the Division 2 World Junior U-20 Championships collecting 3 points in 4 games.

He was the 19th player taken due to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles passing on their selection.

Bison was also drafted by the USHL’s Madison Capitals in the 21st round of the league’s entry draft.

The Cougars also selected Slovenian born defender Luka Zorko with their second pick.

The 6’5”, 205 pound Zorko spent each of the past two seasons playing in the Russian Junior Hockey League with Atlanty Mytishchi.

This season he dressed in 33 games and scored two goals, four assists and 26 penalty minutes and was a +2.

Internationally, Zorko represented Slovenia in both the U-20 Division 1 and U-18 Division 1 World Junior Tournaments and captured a silver medal in the U-18 tournament.
