Trio of PG Cougars named to final NHL Central Scouting Rankings list

The accolades for several PG Cougar players continue to roll in.

The dynamic duo of Riley Heidt and Koehn Ziemmer are catching the eyes of NHL scouts ahead of this summer’s draft in Nashville.

According to the Central Scouting Final rankings, Heidt who had 97 points in the regular season is ranked 21st while Ziemmer who had 89 points is 25th.

In addition, Cougars blueliner Hudson Thornton came in at 206th. The 19-year-old from Winnipeg, Manitoba set a franchise record for goals in a single season by a defenceman with 21 surpassing Dustin Byfuglien.

In addition, local product and Seattle Thunderbirds forward Nico Myatovic is the 26th among North American skaters.

Other northern BC players who made the cut include McBride’s Tanner Molendyk of the Saskatoon Blades (28th), and PA Raiders blueliner Terrell Goldsmith of Fort Saint James (180th).

In total 54 WHL players were named to the final rankings list.
