Independent Investigations Office notified of incident in Prince George

The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) of an incident in Prince George that resulted in serious injuries.

Just before 9:00 last night, (Wednesday) the Prince George RCMP received a report of a man stabbing people.

According to police, the attending officers located an armed suspect who became aggressive.

Mounties said a conducted energy weapon was deployed, an interaction occurred, and officers discharged their firearms, striking the suspect.

The suspect was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The victim of the initial complaint was also treated at hospital.

The IIO is investigating police actions in the incident, no further information will be released by police.

The Prince George RCMP are conducting a subsequent investigation into the initial assault complaint.
