Longtime Show Home ticket buyer from Vancouver Island wins house fit for a King

A Nanaimo man is one step closer to early retirement after winning the Spruce Kings Show Home Lottery.

Bill Sutherland is the winner of an 880-thousand-dollar home located at 2834 Links Drive in the Aberdeen Glen Subdivision.

Sutherland told Vista Radio even with a BCHL team (the Clippers) in his own backyard, he has been a longtime supporter of the lottery.

“I bought my first one about 15 years ago and then in the last five or six years we have been buying them every year since then. Because most of the time, we buy home lottery tickets like firefighters one and the BC Children’s Hospital.”

“I’ve always supported the minor charities and minor sports or the Rotary Club or Knights of Columbus. I’d rather put it (my money) towards those types of lotteries as opposed to going into a casino. Your odds are better to win something like that than the 6/49.”

“We are actually thinking about Nashville (for a vacation). There are a couple concerts we want to see in July so that will be nice.”

Maloney adds his family is also in the middle of building a new home.
