101-year-old temperature record falls in Prince George

Prince George had its warmest April 29th in over a century yesterday (Saturday).

The mercury rose to 24.5 degrees, slightly surpassing the previous record of 23.9, set in 1922.

According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Yimei Li, the above seasonal temperatures are going to stick around throughout the rest of the week.

“Today will be pretty warm with a high of 22 degrees and overnight there’ll be a 40 per cent chance of showers,” Li said.

“Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll have another upper ridge rebounding from the Pacific, so it’s going to be sunny and a high of 22 degrees for Tuesday and 23 degrees for Wednesday.”

Li noted the normal temperatures for this time of year are around 15 degrees for highs and one degree for lows.
