Death of Prince George woman not the result of a criminal act

A woman who was found unconscious on the 1600 block of Ingledew Street in Prince George was not the victim of a violent assault as first reported.

According to police, the victim was found unconscious just before 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4th, and was taken to hospital.

“After many hours of investigation, our Serious Crime Unit has determined the woman’s injuries were not the result of a criminal act and in fact were related to a medical issue. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim, said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.

Mounties say she passed away in hospital several days later.

The BC Coroners Service retains conduct of the investigation, and there will be no further updates from police.
