It is beginning to look a lot like summer in northern BC.
While no temperature records are set to be broken today (Saturday), Environment Canada says that might not be the case for early next week.
“We are flirting with some record temperatures,” said Mike Gismondi, an Environment Canada Meteorologist. “The records for Sunday and Monday are like 30, 28, 29. We are going to be right around those temperatures.”
Today’s high is forecast to be 25 degrees, Gismondi said the temperature record is 31.7.
The heat wave is expected to last for the duration of the week with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

The heat has also put Prince George under a high streamflow advisory around the upper Fraser River.
Parts of Quesnel are under a flood watch.
An out of control wildfire of note is burning to the east and west of Fort St. John along Red Creek. An evacuation order has been put in place for some in the area.
Smoke is not currently a concern in Prince George, but it could arrive early into the week.
There are currently 19 wildfires in the Prince George Fire Centre.
