Toxic Drug Alert issued for Prince George

Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert due to an increase in overdoses in Prince George.

According to the health authority, the increase has been linked to brown sugar granules being sold as ‘down’.

They said drug-checking services indicated high levels of fentanyl and benzodiazepine.

It’s reportedly been causing people to black out and behave unusually, consistent with benzodiazepine effects.
